English Conversation Lessons All English conversation lessons are conducted over the telephone and Internet, with duration of approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. 10 Lesson Course The Ten Lesson Course is designed to conduct a range of activities that will focus on pronunciation, vocabulary, reading, writing, communication and comprehension in the English language. Each Lesson topic is 90 minutes in length. Each topic will be divided into two, 45 minute Lessons. Lesson 1: Pronunciation One of the most important aspects of communicating in English is pronunciation. Often, the greatest barrier in understanding what people are saying to you and what you are saying to them is pronunciation. This Lesson will focus on speaking, listening, pronunciation, vocabulary and comprehension activities. The goal is to improve the student's pronunciation skills. Lesson 2: Reading Reading is extremely important as far as learning English is concerned. When a person reads, they learn new vocabulary and improve comprehension. The goal of this Lesson is to improve reading skills by having both the student and tutor reading to each other and discussing selected topics of interest. Lesson 3: Comprehension In this Lesson we will specifically focus on English idioms and terminologies. Every day English is a language full of idioms which non-English speaking people have great difficulty in understanding, because these idioms cannot be translatable literally. The goal of this Lesson is to obtain a greater understanding of everyday English resulting in the ability to engage in the use of idioms in communication with English speaking people. Lesson 4: Writing Writing is more than just putting letters together. Writing is being able to develop content, organize information and ideas, and presenting that material clearly, concisely, and coherently. Good writing means using correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling. The purpose of this Lesson is to achieve the use of appropriate vocabulary and to write clear, complete and accurate sentences in standard English. Lesson 5: Communication In this final Lesson an assessment of previous Lessons - Pronunciation, Comprehension, Reading and Writing - will be conducted. The final goal is for the student to be able to communicate more effectively through improvement in pronunciation, comprehension, reading and writing skills. Individual Lessons Alternatively, clients may wish to simply book individual lessons where special attention can be directed to individual requirements. All of our Homestay families have at least one family member who is qualified to tutor in the English language, so you will receive plenty of study support.
